This imposing building is now a hotel but was originally built to house the North Eastern Railway headquarters. Completed in 1906 it is built of red brick with stone dressing in Queen Anne Style, with Dutch gables and balconies. A smaller replica of this building in Westminster, London is the Liberal Democrat Party HQ.
It makes a grand hotel!
ReplyDeleteThis is from the days when Britain knew how to build railways and run them. Fine looking building.
ReplyDeleteI'm already saving my pennies to stay there.
