Boats
A view of the River Ouse looking towards Kings Staith and Ouse Bridge. The warehouses on Queens Staith have been converted into apartments and hotel rooms.

River View
Early morning view of the River Ouse this week. Those railings are usually a good way back from the edge of the water.

River Wreckage
The high tides and some strong winds have brought a number of trees floating down the River Ouse. These bits and pieces have become trapped on the wooden jetty designed to prevent tree trunks hitting Scarborough railway bridge.

Riverside Walk
Part of the riverside walk along the Ouse between Lendal and Ouse Bridges. A typical York mix of very old and not so old buildings.

Christmas paddle
These canoeist paddled past a couple of weeks ago as I walked along the Ouse. At least one of the boats had a fully decorated Christmas tree on board and most of the others had Santa hats or tinsel. No camera to hand sadly except on the phone.

Arts Barge Project
This painting of Skeldergate Bridge was part of The Arts Barge Project for the River Festival 2013. The Arts Barge are a not-for -profit arts business working with local communities. Their aim is to fund a permanent barge on the River Ouse to be used as a base for artists and performers

C is for cafe
This barge has been converted to a floating cafe, and it brings along it's own table and chairs too.

River Dog
This faithful hound sits outside a house very close to the River Ouse. Luckily the garden now has a flood gate to protect it when the river rises so maybe he manages to stay dry.

R is for Red Boats on the River
The spring weather this weekend brought out a wide variety of boats on the River Ouse. As with yesterdays post red seems to be a popular colour.

Riverside Walk
This is the view toward Lendal Bridge from the riverside walk. In a highly controversial move York City Council are proposing to close this city centre bridge to cars and motorbikes during the day.

Wet cobblestones
This picture of the River Ouse sums up York over the last few months. Let's hope it stops raining in 2013 and the river retreats back to within it's usual boundaries.

Back to Front?
A misty morning on the River Ouse. I didn't notice at the time but the Cox is sitting facing forwards in the direction of travel, but with his back to the crew. Is that how they do things these days?

Riparian Reflections
This beautiful shot of the River Ouse from Skeldergate Bridge was taken at sunrise and sent to me by my good friend and today's guest photographer Mr Paul Bateson. The early rays of the sun have lit up the brickwork of the old warehouses on Queens Staith, whilst Kings Staith on the opposite bank is still in shadow. With pictures of this quality on offer I really must make an effort to get up and out with the camera earlier!
