River Wreckage

The high tides and some strong winds have brought a number of trees floating down the River Ouse. These bits and pieces have become trapped on the wooden jetty designed to prevent tree trunks hitting Scarborough railway bridge.

  1. I watched as debris like that once nearly washed another bridge away near where I lived at the time. I think the "powers that be" later added a structure like the one above to help protect the bridge.

  2. That bridge looked like it had arches on it once, the brackets are still on the bridge

  3. So I guess this jetty is doing it's job!

  4. The river by us all but disappeared over the weekend after flooding but it is back again today. All that similar debris must be on the golf course now :).
