A4 at Night

One of the recent highlights of York Illuminated was a repeat of The Great Gathering of the six remaining A4 steam locomotives. The Great Hall of the National Railway Museum had suitably atmospheric lighting and a smoke machine to give the impression of steam. It also had a great sound-scape that really made it sound like the locos were whistling and thundering past.

  1. Really nice atmospherics. My first thought was that you had somehow captured it as it was getting underway.

  3. We loved the Railway Museum when we were there and I probably only went because of all your posts about it! ;-)

    1. Glad you enjoyed it Pat, lots to see even if trains are not your main interest, full of social history too.
