Capital of the North

A new exhibition has opened at the Yorkshire Museum. One of the stars of the show is the Escrick ring featured on the poster. This mediaeval gold ring is set with a sapphire surrounded by red glass, and is proving something of a puzzle for the experts. See here for the background story of where it was found and by whom.

  1. it's beautiful! The kind of thing that keeps those metal detector people going.

  2. I read about the ring before. Maybe it was here? I'd love to come to York this very moment and see it.
