The blossom was snowing down and we had just had a shower of rain so it was sticking to everything, lamp-post, post box, photographer......

Driver for a Fiver!
This is Murton Park a station on the Derwent Valley Light Railway. Opened in 1913 the railway ran from Layerthorpe station in York to Cliffe Common near Selby. There is half a mile of track left and occasionally there is the opportunity to pay £5 and have a go at driving one of the diesel shunters.

Community Garden
On a patch of waste ground near the city walls I came across this community garden already planted up with herbs and salad plants for the summer.

I enjoy poster art and it is fun to occasionally apply the same technique to a photo. This is York station earlier this week.

Kitchen Window
An unusual sight caught my eye as I walked past a hotel recently. This open kitchen window had two trays of roasted meat within easy reach if I had been so inclined. Wonder if any of the local cats paid a visit................

Grimy Ginnel
I grabbed this shot as I was hurrying along Straker's Passage last weekend. All ginnels are useful short cuts, some are prettier than other......

Bit of Blue Sky
There was the odd patch of blue sky around on Saturday, and looking on the bright side the coolish dull weather is helping the daffodils to last longer.

Evening on the Canal
A last look at Pocklinton Canal for now. It looks almost wintry but this was taken on a mild March evening.

Pocklington Canal
This is another view of the lovely Pocklington canal. Kingfishers skim along here, Otters swim through, and who knows what is hiding in those reedy edges?

Spotted this chap standing guard outside the SUMO agricultural machinery factory. Wonder if those red eyes follow you when you enter the premises?

Keeping Watch
These carved birds are keeping watch outside a house near Fangfoss church. Some very real birds, Rooks, were noisily building their rookery in the nearby trees as I took a walk around.

L is for Lock
This is a view along the Pocklington canal toward one of the 9 Locks. Built almost 200 years ago it was used to transport coal, lime, manure, corn, flour, and timber. After falling into disuse as a commercial waterway around 1920 it has been gradually restored and is now designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is also a beautiful place for a peaceful walk.Taking part in ABC Wednesday
