Tranquility
Tranquility can be hard to find in a city as popular as York. There are quiet out of the way spots of course, but to me tranquility is finding one of the main thoroughfares with no one else about except perhaps another early riser. The picture above shows two views of The Shambles taken about four hours apart.

It may not surprise you, Deb,that I too like to rise early and walk streets deserted save for council workers hosing down detritus. Reminds me of Yes Minister where Humpty reckons that hospitals are wonderful places if only there were no patients. No, not Humpy ... that other assistant ... whose name, obviously, escapes me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever post Deb, and what a difference the time of day makes.
ReplyDeleteI had a lovely couple of days in York many years ago and loved The Shambles! But it was more like the left than the right. Still there would've been no tranquility in the Middle Ages on this thoroughfare. Enjoy June.
ReplyDeleteNice take on the theme. I also try to find times when there are less people around to take pictures, usually early morning or Sunday afternoons.
ReplyDeleteGreat post for the day Deb!
ReplyDeleteand the light in the early morning is much more conducive to great photos!
ReplyDeleteand I think it was Humphrey who thought hospital patients would get in the way. didn't that hospital win an award for most hygienic in North London? streets without people would be much cleaner!
Neat idea. (I'm sure I shall find myself plagiarising it after a respectable interlude!)
ReplyDeleteNo problem Rath, look forward to seeing it!
DeleteWith our without people, this street is charming. Well done, take care!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to illustrate how fleeting tranquility can be!
ReplyDeleteI love before/after shots. These two are great!
