Celebrating Summer... 2012
With a familiar face on those naan breads this Indian restaurant is celebrating summer 2012 when Bradley Wiggins won both Olympic gold and the Tour de France. Sadly Wiggo will not be featuring in the Tour on his home patch of Yorkshire..

St Sampson's Square
These Morris Dancers are shaking their bells and clashing their sticks in St Sampson's Square. An annual treat for lovers of Traditional Dancing.

Telling the Time with a Triangle
This sundial uses a triangle to tell the time, it also shows the points of the compass and has a plant symbol for each of the four seasons.

Happy New Year
My favourite image from Ginnels Gates and Ghosts during the last 12 months, mainly because it took me many shots to get it looking as I wanted! Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year for 2014, and looking forward to seeing your view on the world.

This little Piggy....
...... can be found high up on a wall in where else but the Swinegate area of the city.
Taking part in CDP theme day details
Ginnels Gates and Ghosts has been posting a daily photo for 2 years now. I have a number of other pressing demands on my free time at present, and I have reluctantly decided to take a short sabbatical from posting for the month of October. I will still try to visit and comment on your blogs.

Think Pink
Apologies for the blurry bus but it was quick grab. I had been out and about with the camera all morning on the lookout for something pink. No luck really and I had put the camera away and was just about to jump on my bike to ride home when this pulled up next to me. "Goodness" I thought "haven't seen that pink bus before" as the words pink bus sank in I reached for the camera and snapped this seconds before another bus pulled between us.

Electric Streetlight
The street lights over the York orbital cycle path have some interesting additions. This one shows the sparks flying. See here for another one I posted earlier

The Beauty of Decay
For this months City Daily Photo theme day I did briefly consider channelling my inner steam punk and going out to shoot some stark images at a run down out of town industrial complex. Then I remembered I lived in York where the beauty of decay is part of the local charm and opted for St Mary's Abbey and grounds in the city centre instead.

Creative Artisan from the Past
Sometimes artists cannot resist painting themselves into a picture. This carving outside the west end of York Minster suggests that perhaps stone masons sometimes succumb to the same temptation. This gentleman could be anywhere between 200-700 years old.

St George's Day
Today is St George's Day and I have interrupted the snicket tour to offer a picture of the man himself slaying a dragon. This fine example of embroidery and beyond is courtesy once again of York Minster Broderers Guild.

Cafe Chairs
You have a choice, padded chairs if you are in here to linger over a skinny latte whilst you catch up with your mates. Upright chairs if you need to pull up close to the table to get down to some serious eating.
