Minster Mosaic

This is a portion of the centre of the beautiful Minton tiled floor in York Minster Chapter House. The tiling dates from around 1845 with the blue tile showing crossed keys as York Minster is dedicated to St Peter.

  1. When I am in a church and I visit quite a few I usually look to see if there are any interesting old tiles. I must add that a couple of years back I missed the Roman tiles in a small chapel in N Yorkshire only reading about them on the web later.
