Hoping for a lucky break

Murals are most unusual in York so I was suprised to come across this example as I walked down Bootham. It is in a narrow alley next to Clifton Bingo Hall and features a series of hands in varying poses. I assume the crossed fingers are intended to bring luck to the players in the Bingo Hall.

  1. Good find Deb, really interesting if slightly disturbing- those giant hands...

  2. I agree with Chrissy...the large hands would be a little freaky! But, the detail is very good!

  5. Your surprise is our delight. Given that York is so old, I can imagine it would be hard to find a wall appropriate for street art that doesn't deface a historic sight. It's interesting that the human hand with the opposing thumb, which basically separates us from other species, could look so disturbing. Thanks, Deb, for participating in this week's Monday Mural.
